APA Annual Meeting of the Membership

meetingGood day, APA members across the state;

As the weather begins to chill and remind us that the holiday season is looming, it’s time to prepare for the Association of Professional Administrators Annual Meeting of the Membership.  This year’s host institution is Bridgewater State University.  The Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018.  As always, there will be a business meeting for the Executive Board with the auditing firm at 10:00am, followed by a general membership luncheon meeting at 12:00 noon.  The general membership meeting will include a preliminary report from the auditors, news of interest to the membership, a report from the Health and Welfare chairperson and a visit from the MTA Higher Education Director, Suzanne Wall, who will speak to us about the goals of the MTA for its Higher Ed program in the upcoming year.

On everyone’s mind, of course is the status of the APA Agreement funding.  Here is a brief update:

Last week, Governor Baker signed off on the final FY2018 Supplemental Budget that included the funding for the 2017-20 APA Agreement.  We are delighted to finally have this milestone in our Collective Bargaining process behind us.

The next step, as I understand it, includes accounting and budgetary procedures. The Comptroller has indicated to officials at the Department of Higher Education (DHE) that the calculations are currently being done.  This should accelerate the transfer and release of funds to the DHE/Institutions by ANF.

A request for more information about the date that members will see their retroactive salary and increases has been made to the DHE today, Friday, October 26th.  As soon as there is a date to share, we’ll get it out to the group.

We’d loved for you to join us at Bridgewater State University on November 16. An invitation will follow (on the week of October 29) that includes specifics about the location and parking.  Please let us know, through your local Chapter President, of your intention to attend, so we can let the excellent food service people at BSU know how many meals they’ll want to prepare.

Best regards on behalf of the APA Executive Board,

Sherry Horeanopoulos
